Over 100 Residents Receive Free Eyeglasses at Kazo Health Centre IV

More than 100 residents suffering from various eye conditions have received free eyeglasses during a one-day eye medical camp held at Kazo Health Centre IV.

The outreach, organized by Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) in partnership with Kazo district, took place on Friday, March 13. The initiative aimed at improving eye health by offering screening, treatment and optical support to community members experiencing vision challenges.

According to a medical professional from UPMB, Damali Namuli Mujuni, the camp focused on examining patients with different eye complications and providing appropriate medical guidance and solutions. “Our main objective was to screen people with vision problems and offer necessary assistance including free eyeglasses to those diagnosed with optical challenges,” Mujuni explained.

She noted that many people in communities often live with untreated eye conditions due to limited access to specialized eye care services.

While officiating at the camp, the district health officer for kazo district Dr. Edgar Kansiime commended residents who turned up to benefit from the free services. He emphasized that the initiative demonstrates the district’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of its population.

Dr. Kansiime also appreciated the leadership of Kazo district and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau for prioritizing community health outreach programs that bring essential medical services closer to the people. He described the medical camp as highly beneficial to the public, noting that many residents were able to access specialized eye care services.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the medical team, district leadership and the organizers for conducting the outreach and bringing much-needed eye care services closer to the community.
