Katugunda Leads Kazo Council to Back Gen. Muhoozi’s Anti-Corruption Drive
Kazo district council has backed a resolution supporting Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), for what council leaders described as his efforts to fight corruption and strengthen discipline within the army.
The resolution was supported during a district council meeting yesterday following a proposal presented by Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, the LC5 chairperson of Kazo district and Patriotic Officer (PO 023) of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

While addressing the council, Rev. Katugunda called on members to support what he described as Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s efforts in streamlining the army and fighting corruption in Uganda. He requested the Speaker and councillors to pass a resolution endorsing and supporting the General’s activities and initiatives, as well as those of the Patriotic League of Uganda.

The proposal received support from the district council, with Hon. Dan Nahurira Bwamunyoga saying the council fully backed Gen. Muhoozi’s efforts both within the army and in other national activities.

“As the council, we fully support all the efforts of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba in the army and in other activities in this nation,” Hon. Bwamunyoga said, adding that the council supported efforts aimed at combating corruption across the country.

Rev. Katugunda also appointed Hon. Mastiko Daniel Rurara as his PLU coordinator in the district. Rurara was tasked with mobilizing and recruiting district councilors and other well-wishers who wish to join the Patriotic League of Uganda.

The meeting also discussed government directives concerning community sanitation. The district chairman called on the council to implement a Ministry of Local Government directive requiring local governments to conduct monthly cleaning exercises, particularly on the designated Saturday at the end of each month.

He urged both political leaders and technical staff at district and lower local government levels to actively participate in the exercises and comply with government directives.
The chairman said the initiatives were intended to improve sanitation and contribute to the wellbeing of communities.

The council’s resolution comes amid broader efforts by local leaders and political actors to publicly express support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and initiatives associated with the Patriotic League of Uganda.
