Kazo District Welcomes OPM Assessment Team for 3-Day Performance Review
Kazo District has today welcomed a National Assessment Team from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), marking the start of a three-day evaluation exercise that will run from 9th to 11th December 2025. The assessment will involve district department heads, sector leaders and lower local governments.
The team arrived at Kazo district headquarters early this morning for the annual National Local Government Performance Assessment Exercise. An entry meeting was held between the OPM officials and the district technical staff to kickstart the process.
The assessment, conducted under the Local Government Performance Assessment System (LGPAS), focuses on key performance areas including education, health, water, finance, governance among others. Findings from the exercise will influence the allocation of development grants and support the development of Performance Improvement Plans within local governments.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Administrative Officer Hajji Badru Mayanja Majwala welcomed the assessment team and confirmed the district’s readiness to fully cooperate.
“As a district, we are prepared and we shall give the assessors the necessary information and support throughout the three days,” he said.
The LC5 Chairperson Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda echoed the same message, noting that despite being a relatively young district, Kazo is progressing steadily under strong leadership.
Leading the OPM delegation, Emoji Henry Gidudu said the team is in Kazo to assess service delivery and called for maximum cooperation from district leadership and staff. He also delivered remarks from the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Alex Kakooza, urging officials to provide accurate data and documents required for the assessment.
The Office of the Prime Minister reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the evaluation with strong quality assurance mechanisms in place.
The exercise is expected to continue for the next two days as various departments undergo scrutiny under the national performance standards.
In the previous National Performance Assessment results for the financial year 2023–2024, Kazo district registered a positive outcome, securing the 14th position nationally.
