PACEID Urges Kazo Farmers to Champion Uganda’s Export Growth Agenda
The Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID) has called on farmers in Kazo District to actively support Uganda’s export growth by leveraging their agricultural enterprises and community platforms.
This call was made during a productive engagement between PACEID and the district leadership, commercial farmers, cooperative societies, opinion leaders and technical staff at Compassion Hall in Kazo Town Council. The meeting was held at the invitation of Hon. Jennifer Muheesi, the District Woman Member of Parliament for Kazo district.
PACEID Chairperson Mr. Odrek Rwabwogo, who is also a Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Duties, urged farmers to become ambassadors of Uganda’s export agenda.
"Our mission is to grow exports by growing you, the farmers," said Rwabwogo. "We have already secured international markets, but we lack enough quality products to sustain these markets. Farmers must prioritize quality and consistency."
Earlier in the day, Mr. Rwabwogo appeared on 97.8 Kazo FM's “Omushomesa” program, alongside Hon. Jennifer Muheesi and the district production department team, to educate listeners on improving agricultural productivity and quality for export.
Rwabwogo praised the development strides made in Kazo under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government. “I passed through Kazo some time ago, and I am amazed at the progress and development I see today,” he remarked.
Hon. Jennifer Muheesi thanked Mr. Rwabwogo for honoring the invitation and appealed for more support in identifying markets for key agricultural products such as coffee and milk.
"I led a campaign to teach people how to plant coffee, and I am happy the community embraced it. I thank the NRM government and President Museveni for bringing peace and development to our district," said Muheesi.
Hon. Dan Atwijukire Kimosho, the area Member of Parliament, also welcomed Rwabwogo and echoed his support for the NRM’s achievements in Kazo. He urged residents to show appreciation by voting overwhelmingly for President Museveni.
"Kazo is a district of light – let us act like children of the light. Let us not vote in the basin; I urge you to vote at the table," said Kimosho.
LC5 Chairperson Rev. Samuel Katugunda appreciated the community for turning up in large numbers to welcome Mr. Rwabwogo and called on PACEID to help find stable markets for the district’s agricultural produce.
Fred Bamwine, Commissioner in the Office of the President, encouraged farmers to embrace the four-acre model farming approach as a sustainable way to boost household incomes and productivity.
PACEID was established with a clear goal: to address strategic and operational barriers hindering Uganda's industrialization and export potential. Anchored on four strategic pillars, the committee is working towards generating USD 6 billion in new export revenue by 2028.
