The leadership of Kazo district today held a consultative meeting with traders, property owners and local leaders at the district headquarters to discuss the implementation of the government’s trade order policy.

The meeting was attended by the Member of Parliament for Kazo Constituency, Hon. Dan Kimosho, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Capt. Yahaya Kakooza, the LCV Chairperson Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda, District Speaker, Dan Nahurira Bwamunyoga, members of the District Executive Committee, LCIII chairpersons, technical staff, traders and property owners from across the district.

Speaking during the meeting, LCV Chairperson Rev. Samuel Mugisha Katugunda urged property owners and traders in Kazo town council to work closely with the district technical team to ensure that the trade order is implemented peacefully, fairly and in accordance with the law.

He assured the business community that the district leadership would not allow the destruction of people’s businesses, emphasizing that the exercise would strictly follow legal procedures. He encouraged operators of kiosks to voluntarily relocate into permanent business premises, explaining that the initiative is intended to improve the trading environment rather than deprive people of their livelihoods.

Rev. Katugunda also appealed to residents to support the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and its chairman, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, in the fight against corruption.

Addressing the gathering, the area Member of Parliament, Hon. Dan Kimosho, directed the district technical staff responsible for implementing the trade order to strictly adhere to the law and the guidelines issued by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

He called upon owners of kiosks, temporary timber structures and traders operating outside designated business premises to voluntarily relocate in compliance with the directive. However, he assured residents that permanent houses would not be demolished during the implementation process.

The Resident District Commissioner, Capt. Yahaya Kakooza, encouraged residents to improve the appearance of Kazo town by painting their buildings, maintaining cleanliness and creating a more attractive business environment.

He reaffirmed his office’s commitment to ensuring that the trade order is implemented in accordance with government guidelines and pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to guarantee a fair, transparent and peaceful exercise.

On behalf of traders and property owners, Mr. Rwabukwini John among others expressed appreciation to the district leadership for engaging the business community before implementing the directive. He thanked the leaders for standing with them, saying the people of Kazo had made the right choice in electing leaders who listen to their concerns.

The meeting concluded with a call for cooperation among traders, property owners, local leaders and the district technical team to ensure the successful implementation of the trade order while protecting businesses and promoting a clean, orderly and vibrant trading environment in Kazo district.
